COVD is an organization devoted to improving the lives of our patients by advancing optometric vision therapy and visual rehabilitation services. COVD provides board certification to commendable optometrists and vision therapists who strive to offer excellence in visual enhancement.

The goal of COVD is to promote the implementation of optometric vision therapy into practices nationwide by increasing the recognition of visual rehabilitation and the benefits it can provide to a patient’s quality of life.

COVD realizes the importance of providing education to its members. Every year, a COVD board member visits each optometry school in the nation and gives a presentation that informs students of the importance of recognizing visual therapy as an effective service for patients who experience binocular vision deficits.

A great way to obtain COVD insight is by attending our annual meeting. This year, the meeting will be held from April 12- 16 at the Hyatt Regency in St. Louis, Mo. We will again be encouraging student involvement by continuing the Student Ambassador Program. Through this program, students were given the opportunity to earn a certificate by attending continuing education courses, student meetings and exploring the exhibit hall.

In order to reach even more doctors and students, COVD is working in conjunction with International Vision Expo West in Las Vegas to provide continuing education courses.

Vision Development and Rehabilitation is the Journal of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. It features new and exciting research articles as well as the paper and poster presentations from the annual meeting.
