On April 6, the AOSA Board of Trustees voted and approved to allocate $100,000 to the AOA to support student travel to AOA+ in Washington, D.C.
“The AOSA is proud to support this landmark initiative that will undoubtedly be beneficial to students in their professional development, ” said AOSA President Andy Mackner, of Pacific University College of Optometry.
The AOSA executive council presented the check during their April 7 meetings at the AOA/AOSA headquarters in St. Louis. Those present for the check presentation included AOA Trustee Ron Benner, O.D.; AOA Trustee Bill Reynolds, O.D., and AOA Associate Executive Director Renee Brauns.
The AOA+ programming has been specifically geared toward students and young graduates. There are more than 2,300 students registered to attend AOA+ and Optometry’s Meeting, June 21-24.
“This will be an incredible opportunity to meet and network with an unprecedented number of future colleagues from across the country,” Mackner said. “If you have not registered for Optometry’s Meeting, it isn’t too late.”
