AOSA President, Andy Mackner, says this is his favorite event of the the year. At AOA on Capital Hill you will receive priceless education on how best to advocate for optometry—and not to mention the incredible honor of walking the halls of Congress and lobbying on behalf of the profession.

With a rapidly changing health care policy landscape and AOA-backed legislation in need of new support, this year’s AOA on Capitol Hill will be the most important one ever.

While in D.C. you will get to participate in advocacy training just for students, briefings on our top legislative issues and some special sessions with political guests from the Hill.

  • Sunday, April 22: Arrive in D.C. + Welcome Reception
  • Monday, April 23: Advocacy Training, Issues Briefings, AOA+ Leadership Link, and MORE!
  • Tuesday, April 24: Put all your new knowledge to use on Capitol Hill.

More than 200 students from all participating optometry schools will be selected to attend and receive a $100 travel stipend from AOSA as well as lodging provided by the AOA. We are looking for those who can give voice to the profession’s promise and make a long-term commitment to advocating for patients and optometry’s future.

We hope to see you in Washington, D.C.!
